surrounded by nice people

My parents are constantly worried if I'll survive when they take me back up to Berkeley on Saturday. I said, I can do anything I need to, just a bit slower and lazier, is all.

I've always tried to never ask anyone for help. And then this policy just went out the window when I got hurt. It sure does feel weird to have everything brought to me when I can't even get a cup of water by myself.

But I don't need to worry much, and so my parents shouldn't. What the heck did I ever do to deserve such nice friends beats me, but everyone has been so good to me in doing things for me and offering help.

And now, the professor I wanted to TA for has emailed me to let me know that she and the dept chair are going to try their best to get me research support so I don't have to teach this semester.

I'm being smothered with love, and I don't care if I can't breathe. =)

july 25: meet a part of my doctor

july 9 : minutes before

My friend Loreen just sent me this picture of me on Dave's skateboard in Golden Gate Park that fateful day. I had no idea such a picture existed... but there it is. Probably just minutes before I fell off and put my left ankle through hell. Sigh... I was doing so well with working out by skating before it happened. See? My left calf was strong! Now my left leg consists of a bag of fat dangling from my tibia. Woo! =)

Other evidence from that day: video of Dave, Greg and Loreen

july 7 : my first and so far only friday night skate in sf

shankar was right

hopping on one leg is getting to be funner than crutches

and it's not so bad since it's just like the jumproping that i'll be missing for awhile =(

countdown to aug 29: 11 days!!!

i guess i'm in the right place! (well, not currently...)

You Belong in San Francisco

You crave an eclectic, urban environment. You're half California, half NYC.
You're open minded, tolerant, and secretly think you're the best.
People may dismiss you as a hippie, but you're also progressive, interesting, and rich!

the weirdest test ever

The entire test asked me about ANIMALS! How the heck did they ever come with the result seriously beats me, but hey, it sounds great, doesn't it? =) Uh huh, considering it's so GENERIC! I mean, dude, who wouldn't want this? Sure, I'd love to cheat!

The Keys to Your Heart

You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free.

In love, you feel the most alive when your lover is creative and never lets you feel bored.

You'd like to your lover to think you are optimistic and happy.

You would be forced to break up with someone who was emotional, moody, and difficult to please.

Your ideal relationship is open. Both of you can talk about everything... no secrets.

Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.

You think of marriage something you've always wanted... though you haven't really thought about it.

In this moment, you think of love as commitment. Love only works when both people are totally devoted.

again, bored, so bear with these lame quizzes

You Are a Bloody Mary

You're a fairly serious drinker, who's experimented a lot with different drinks.
You're a drunk, but a stable drunk. You don't ever let your drinking get out of control.

i really shouldn't have ...

even typed the word foot fetish in my last entry

now i have these "connoisseurs" randomly bumbling onto my blog

oops, i did it again

aug 6 : ikea

aug 17 : kabuki, pasadena

christine, sunny, and you know who

frances, how's your ankle?

well, thanks for asking, i know how the novelty of certain things just wear off after awhile and while it has been well over a month (accident on july 9), this has no way become a distant memory for me as of yet, as i still can't walk for another few weeks, so yeah, even if you're not thinking about it, i am... cuz i'm still stuck with this! hahahahahha... =)

somehow, i still can't believe this happened to me, what good shall i learn from this? there must be something someone is trying to tell me that i couldn't slow down to listen and now has resorted to drastic measures to stop me

or...

this is all just a silly accident that happens to bum me out for a few months and annoy me a bit for up to a year

anyhoo, i've been kicking ass on my crutches, trying to balance with no feet and doing tricks, side effect being freaking the heck outta my parents as they try not to think of what'd happen if i sprained/broke the "good" ankle =) hey, i still have a life to live the most exciting right?

my scabs are all gone, i'm left with smooth scars that are still a bit brilliantly red, i'm trying to pass them off as flower tattoos

the most unsettling thing is when my leg started to swell less, i found out the metal was right under my skin and stuck out in a most unrefined way, i couldn't tell if my screws were loose or not

been trying to flex a bit daily, per my doc's orders, it's a miracle! i can move it on my own accord without heavy shaking

still swells a lot when i put my leg down, i now know what my feet would look like if i were ever to become unfortunately obese, faaat toes! i now realize that my feet are shaped nicely and would look great if i actually took care of them and didn't break em, oh wells, there go my chances to reel in a foot-fetish guy

nah, but it'd be nice to have hot guy massage my feet, hahahhah... in my dreams, mmm...
i shall look forward to meeting my physical therapist soon then =)

anyhoo, random thoughts about my lovely appendage, i really wish i could just unscrew it, put it in the closet to heal and then screw it back on when it's done

hopefully i'll be back in berkeley soon so my buddies can wait on me hand and foot, hint hint =)

music misc

Just found this: http://blogmusik.net/
Seems like a good way to find and listen to music that I don't want to buy or get yet. Or find new music...

Phoenix's It's Never Been Like That is more rock than their previous two albums United and Alphabetical. Not sure if I like them becoming that when I already have favorite rock bands. Phoenix is supposed to be my catchy cool music band. Anyways, they'll be in SF September 23, I'll figure out if I want to go see them. Hot French musicians, what's not to like eh?

When did I stop obsessing over Weezer? I can't remember. But I still have 3 gigs of their stuff as evidence. Though I never did see them perform live. They were on Telegraph last year, and I just probably decided to stay in Evans and work or something.

becoming less of a dork eh? =)

Pure Nerd
69 % Nerd, 26% Geek, 21% Dork
For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.

A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.

A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.

You scored better than half in Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure Nerd.

The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up all of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer. Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even more so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be replaced with the following label: Purely Successful.

Congratulations!

Also, you might want to check out some of my other tests if you're interested in any of the following:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Professional Wrestling

Love & Sexuality

America/Politics

bored but definitely not an orlando fan

Pretty boy
You scored 40% masculine, 47% athletic, 45% exotic, and 62% refined!
You like a man that looks like you can bring him home to mama. Clean, toned (but not over the top) and not the macho type. A genuine nice guy.....like Orlando Bloom. But let's face it, the whole point of this was to look at a bunch of hot guys. If you liked what you saw, please rate my test!

late thoughts

1) When I broke my ankle, I was wearing a helmet and elbow pads and knee pads and wrist guards.

2) I have no idea who put my clothes back on me when I got out of surgery.
